Program of requirements for circular climate installations
The program of requirements for circular climate installations has been developed for housing associations and their partners to reduce the environmental impact of building-related installations. While climate installations are essential for CO₂-neutral heating, cooling, and ventilation, they themselves have a significant environmental impact due to material use and short lifespans. This document provides a framework with circular principles to make installations more sustainable and encourages a collaborative approach between clients and market players.
The framework introduces circular design strategies such as component reuse, material savings, and ease of disassembly. It emphasizes that minimizing installations should be a priority, for example, through better insulation and passive cooling. Subsequently, installations can be designed to be as circular as possible. The document aligns with existing initiatives such as Het Nieuwe Normaal and the Action Agenda for Circular Installations.
To accelerate the transition, collaboration and knowledge sharing between housing associations, installers, and manufacturers is encouraged. The PoR serves as a starting point and will be further developed based on practical experiences. Next steps focus on specifying environmental performance, integrating circularity into policy frameworks, and improving disassembly and lifespan extension of installations.
