Measuring the possession of electrical and electronic devices in households
The research consists of a measurement of all devices with a battery or plug that can be found in Dutch households, including auxiliary accessories. The research shows that there are an average of 131 devices per household.
To advance the asset measurement, an online sample was taken and a series of home visits were used to validate the data. A distinction is made between devices in use, unused or broken.
This report also looks at the results of this power measurement from a historical perspective and describes a number of trends in depth. An example of this is hoarding, an increasingly heard phenomenon that describes how people find it difficult to part with possessions, such as electrical appliances.
Finally, some recommendations are made for further research.
