Collecting as a challenge
In 2020, the board of Stichting OPEN decided to commission an examination of the existing WEEE implementation toolkit. The aim of this study is to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of the current toolkit or identify any potential shortcomings.
The field of collection strongly relies on the ‘all actors principle,’ meaning that all actors in the chain bear responsibilities, and active engagement from all parties is required to achieve the collection objectives. The focus is on strengthening the instrumental configuration. The examination primarily explored possibilities for improvement, resulting in three clusters identified in this study: collection concepts, take-back concepts, and recycling concepts.
