Amendment of the WEEE Regulation
In 2020, the WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Regulation was amended. The regulation has been expanded and now applies to both WEEE from private households and WEEE from users other than private households.
In addition, this amendment states that unseparated WEEE, mixed with other waste materials such as scrap and construction and demolition waste, must always be processed appropriately.
The WEEELabex designation from the original regulation has also been replaced by the CENELEC Standard. Parties can demonstrate that they adhere to the CENELEC Standard when processing WEEE by means of a declaration of conformity.
